Academic Challenge: School Delays or Cancelation Procedures

Hello Students and Families,

Since the winter weather cycle is upon us, and the weather for Monday/Tuesday next week looks iffy, I wanted to send you information about what happens for AC if the districts have delays or cancelations.

LEVEL 1-3 STUDENTS:

If your district is closed, consult D2L that morning for Zoom meeting times or asynchronous work posted by instructors.

If your district is delayed:

  • On a one-hour delay, go to school at the delayed time, and take the AC bus to Del Tech an hour later than normal (example:  if the normal pick-up time is 7:45 am, on a one-hour delay the pick-up time is 8:45 am).  Students who are picked up for the afternoon session would be picked up at the normal time.  Students who are dropped off after the morning session would be dropped off at the normal time.

  • On a two-hour delay, go to school at the delayed time and ALL Level 1-3 AC students, both AM and PM half day students ride the AC AM bus over to Del Tech two hours later than normal  (example: if the normal AM pick-up time is 7:45 am, on a two-hour delay the pick-up time is 9:45 am).  Students who are usually half-day will have a study hall at Delaware Tech while the other session is meeting.

If Del Tech is closed, students will receive an automated call, text message, or email at the phone number or email provided in the DTCC Alert system.  The college will also post an announcement in red on the website www.dtcc.edu.  Students should check their D2L courses for Zoom meeting times or asynchronous work posted by their instructors.

LEVEL 4-5 STUDENTS:

If Del Tech is closed, students will receive an automated call, text message, or email at the phone number or email provided in the DTCC Alert system.  The college will also post an announcement in red on the website www.dtcc.edu.  Students should check their D2L courses for asynchronous work posted by their instructors.

If Del Tech classes are not canceled and your district has a delay or cancelation, students should consult with parents about driving conditions and proceed to class only if conditions are safe. Students have an excused absence and may make up work, contacting their instructor for guidance, if they have to miss class.

Should there be cancelations or delays on Tuesday, students can find information about AC classes through their D2L courses and at the AC Website.

Please contact us with any questions.

Thank you,
